Question: I am trying to Potty Train My Dog indoors. How do I do that?

He’s 8 years old. He’s trained to do his business outside. I never have any accidents with him in the house. But, lately there have been some really severe cold weather here. So I thought, instead of taking him outside, where he hurts his paws from the salt & it’s extremely cold outside from the wind, I could train him indoors until the weather gets better outside. I bought him the training pads & I also bought him the spray to teach the dogs where to go. My little guy just looks at me & he’ll sit on the training pad, but he’ll not do his business on it. Can anyone give me some advise on this? The cold is really hurting him & I have him bundled up with sweaters & jackets, but I don’t think it’s good enough.

Answer: So go to the pet food store and buy de-icer that’s safe for dogs & a jacket for the dog. Why train a dog to eleminate indoors? You will be so sorry.

Question: Any suggestions on Potty Training My Dog?

He is about 10 months, and I live in an apartment. I’ve trained him to not go inside, and he doesn’t but we do not have time to take him out every 3-4 hours. At the moment we take him out twice a day, once in the morning and once every evening, but I feel terrible that perhaps he feels like going, and holds it in all day. That would be very painful for humans, and I feel bad for the little guy.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Answer: Have you tried the newspaper method? There are many ways to train a dog and Im sure you can find a way to give the greatest care to your dog even on a limited schedule.
