Question: How does crate training a dog work?

I gave up on this method of potty training. Apparently your dog is supposed to learn to hold the pee/poo until morning, right? Well my Pomeranian pup didn’t. I always found poo in her crate, and it’s not a big crate, it’s the right size. Should I try again putting her in the crate again? She’s 7 months and still not potty trained. Any advice?!

Answer: Crate training is not training. You have to take your dog outside constantly until they learn. Like every 30 minutes. Here is an article.

How To Potty Train A Puppy

Question: How do I potty train my pet rat so that he won’t pee on everything outside of his cage?

I have a hooded male rat and everytime I let him out of his cage to run around he ends up peeing on everything. He is very sweet and comes when I call him, I’ve tried using a seperate bedding in one corner of his cage but he just spreads it around all over. I’ve also noticed that when he wants to pee specifically on me, or rather my hands, he usually just lifts his leg like a dog and more or less just rubs it on. It is very disgusting. I’ve tried just putting him back in his cage when he does it but he is not responding. Is there any special training technique that I can use to get him to stop peeing on me and my stuff? ~Thankx

Answer: rats are supposed to potty train themselves… yours might need counseling on a weekly basis, he sounds depressed, maybe he needs a little rat wife

Dog Lovers Anonymous: Potty Training Part 2

Question: Can you train an old dog to Go Potty Outside? 3-5 years old?

The family dog is about 3-5 years old and was wondering if it still able to train to go outside. How would you know if it needs to go?
Also, another new puppy will come soon and will they get along with another or would the old dog snap, bite at the newcomer?

Answer: The two dogs should get along just fine. Potty train just like a puppy. Take outside every two or three hours. Give a treat and lots of praise when they go.
