Water

Potty Training means NO 24-hours access to Water!

Potty training will be very difficult if your dog has access to water 24-7 (at least during the potty training period). If dogs are allowed water at random times of day, they will eliminate at random times of day. You will have no control over your dog’s elimination.

Offer water to your dog 5-6 times a day

During the potty training period, offer water to your dog 5-6 times a day. Your dog must be allowed to drink

  • after meals, and
  • after play

If your dog is thirsty, allow your dog to drink as much water as he or she wants. In another word, you want to:

  1. limit the number of times water is offered to your dog during potty training period, but
  2. not limit the amount of water your dog should drink

After drinking, your dog will need to urinate. Many dogs will need to eliminate shortly after drinking. If dogs drink a lot of liquid, then they will need to urinate several times over the next few hours.

Question: How to Potty Train Your Dog?

ok so i have this blue/red nose pit bull n he is bout 11 mnts old. I tried to teach him to go potty n tinkle outside but he doesn’t get the idea. How can i teach him to go out n not in? Also how can i teach him that biting is wrong?
i need professional help!

Answer: To start with the biting…get him into some obedience classes. The trainer will be able to show you techniques in person. But when he does bite, say NO! and give him a toy he can chew on. He’s being dominant and mouthing and you want to stop that!
For the potty training you should try crate training. Take him outside immediately before going to bed at night and put him in his crate. Take him outside immediately after coming out of his crate, immediately After eating, or playing. If you catch him in the act firmly say NO! to startle him and immediately bring him outside..even if he finished going. If you find an accident randomly, simply clean it up. Don’t scold him for it later on. He won’t know why he’s getting yelled at.

The most important thing for both these issues is to stay consistent! Don’t get lazy or think..oh he’s been good lately, I’ll let him get away with it this once. Stay consistent with both!!

Answer: om-gee,i just got my second dog and shes a yorkie! and she is trianed now so…
1-make sure if your dog is going in circles, take it OUTSIDE!
2-at least 20 minutes After eating, take it out!
3-just keep saying a word to them and it will teach them to go, like for both of my dogs we say “get busy” “good girl, get busy” but dont hound them!
4-get rid of the potty pad! we had them and my aunt got my dogs brother and he went to training class-she said GET RID OF THE POTTY PADS!
5-you probobly want a crate so she doesn’t “GO” all over the house!
HOPE I COULD HELP! p.s. my puppy is 9 months old and she is trained! try this above =)
