Dog Potty Training Sod

Question: my dog is peeing in the appartment after hes been trained to go outside at his spot… why is this happening?
he has a designated sod matted spot outside on the balcony and he usually goes there 4-6 times a day but just takes the biggest piss 2-4 times a day in the appartment…. is he sick, just being a pup, should he be punished…. what do we do when he goes outside…. we treat him and say good potty every time???? some help please
Answer: Take him to the vet. If he has been consistant with potty training and this is happening all the sudden, this isn’t normal. It sounds like he has a urinary tract infection. Easy to treat, but they can be pretty painful.

Train A Dog Potty Outside

Question: how do u teach or train a dog to potty train outside?
im having kinda trouble teaching my maltese puppy how to train outside…what do i do?
Answer: Set a timer to remind you to take your puppy out every 30 minutes. Take him to the spot you want him to potty and wait patiently until he does. Once he seems to be doing good with that, then set the timer for 45 minutes, and so on and so on. Work at getting it to 2 hours and up. Always take him to his potty spot. If he poops in the wrong place (house, or where ever) pick up the poop and put it where you want him to go and show him nicely so he will get the idea.
Also, take him out every time he wakes up, about 15-30 minutes After eating, and after hard play.
Never tell him NO when he potties in the wrong place because you will confuse him. He will think that the act of going potty is bad, not where he is going potty. And never stick his nose in it. You don’t want to scare him or make him angry with you.
Use positive reinforcement EVERY TIME. Tell him something like “good potty” when he gets it right.
Remember, he is a baby. Be patient and consistent. It takes a while to develop bladder control, but give him time and it will happen.
Good reading would be “Training Your Puppy” magazine type book by the editors of Dog Fancy magazine, and “House-Training” also by the editors of Dog Fancy.
Good luck

Question: when potty training a dog, if you take him out and he goes to the bathroom are you supposed to make sure…?
…that he gets at least 5-10 minutes free in the kitchen or whatever before he goes back in his crate because you have to go to school or whatever?
or, like, if i’m at school and he’s in the crate but my grandma comes halfway through the school day to take him out to relieve himself, can she bring him inside after he goes and put him straight into the crate, as long as she praises him, or should she let him stay out a while to convey the message that bathroom outside is good?
how long should she let him stay out of the crate for before putting him back in?
he’s about 6 months
Answer: A crate is not punishment and should never be used in that way so you dog should not see the crate like that. If you have 5 or 10 minutes to allow the dog to run around then you should, but a fully crate trained dog can go right back in. That said, however, a puppy less than 4-6 months should not spend more than a few hours a day in a crate (other than at night). If you don’t have time for this, you don’t have time for a puppy.
