Shes 1 year old. She didnt go inside befor but for about 2 weeks now she refuses to go out and do her bissnes outside so she only goes outside? I cant crate her so then what could i do to train her? and yes iv taken her out like 20 times a day and givien her the firm no

Answer: Does she only use the bathroom when you are not watching? It could be that the scolding after going in the house has trained the dog that using the bathroom is bad, as opposed to using the bathroom in the house. The best way to house train a dog is to reward the dog for good behavior as opposed to punishing the dog for bad behavior. So, you really need to get your dog to use the bathroom outside, with you around, and then reward her for doing this. It may take a lot of time on your part to get this to happen, but that’s the tack to take.

Question: Potty training for an 8 wk old cavalier king charles spaniel in the winter?

I live in the chicago area and am about to get my puppy on Jan 13th.
Most websites/books recommend taking your dogs outside for potty but I am concerned about the frigid weather outside for at least 2 more months.I don’t want the poor girl to get sick.I could try indoor wee wee pads/wizdog etc but then will the dog want to go indoors even in the summer?Can I train the dog to go inside when needed but still be able to go outside when the weather is good? Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

I am near the end of house breaking my pup in Montana. It took one week! A couple of tips: 1. Take her out to potty hourly or more often if needed; 2. Clear an area in the snow so that she can squat easily without her bottom touching the snow; 3. Purchase a warm jacket and booties if you are concerned about the temperature; 4. Have a warm, dry spot to put her on when you bring her back inside. She will be trained in a jiffy and ready to go outside at all times. Good luck!

Question: I need help with potty training 2 dogs?

I have 2 dogs, one is 13 years old and one is 1 1/2 years old. We are moving to a new house which is beautiful and I want them to go outside. Here they pretty much go inside and I keep cleaning it up! How can I train them to go outside when they are older dogs? Any help will be greatly appreciated!
